As I noted on my Elite Hotline yesterday, there was certainly low morale backstage last night before Raw. There was a feeling among the wrestlers that CM Punk walking out was going to be a loss for the locker room, since he was constantly speaking up for the crew. There was also a feeling that as much talk as there was about potential creative changes in the last week, there wasn't any real sign of that once they started learning what their segments were. In fact, most I spoke to in the last 24 hours were doubtful there would be any sort of real shake-up with current Mania plans. The fact that WWE management hasn't told anyone how PPV and DVD royalties and bonuses will change with the Network coming this month has also frustrated a number of talents, although many won't voice it for obvious reasons.

As has been reported this week, there was talk backstage at Monday’s RAW that Alberto Del Rio may be leaving WWE once his current contract expires. While there is some concern among WWE officials about Del Rio leaving, it is not and likely will not be treated as a big deal like CM Punk leaving.

The one thing to note here is that WWE officials have never seen Del Rio as someone “in it” for the long-haul but more as someone they could push immediately as a top star but would ultimately retire and return to Mexico.

The expected wrestling promotion with Jeff Jarrett and country music star Toby Keith is said to be a long way from happening. The partnership came together when TNA was for sale and Jarrett went through his Nashville music industry connections trying to put together a bid to buy the company. The deal was reportedly very close at one point.

Bob Carter came to Keith to finalize the deal and the two sides were close on a price, although they were not quite there. The belief is they were going to hash it out but Carter only had one request in selling, which was that Dixie Carter would remain with her title, have some power in the company and remain a TV character.

Keith said he wasn't going to buy the company with any creative limitations so the deal actually fell apart because Bob Carter in the end was going to protect his daughter. Someone in TNA close to the situation said, "That's why we all are still here," noting if it was about business, TNA would have never survived after the big move to primetime TV and the Hulk Hogan debacle failed to stop the company from losing money. At that point, the feeling was from Keith and Jarrett that they didn't need to buy the company as they could start their own.

When this story got out within TNA, those who believed Janice Carter's memo about not selling realized they had been had.

Regarding Jarrett and Keith's promotion, one person with knowledge described it as being in step 1 of a 10 step project and that it would likely be late this year at the earliest before it's off the ground.

As previously reported, before Jeff Jarrett left TNA he brokered a deal for the company to work with Wrestle-1 in Japan. However, a new report says that Vince Russo's rumored consulting work with TNA may be a deal breaker. Wrestle-1 doesn't want to have anything to do with Russo, considering him anti-Japanese because of comments he made while working for WCW and the way that he has booked Japanese talent in the past.

We have a source who has confirmed reports that WWE’s current plan is for Hulk Hogan to act as a “guest host” for the WrestleMania XXX pay-per-view, similar to what The Rock did at WrestleMania 27.

Another thing WWE is working on is giving Hogan at least one original series on the upcoming WWE Network, if not more. We’ve noted before that one of the main reasons WWE is so interested in Hogan is his ability to entice older fans to subscribe to the Network.

One project being pitched is the “History of Hulkamania.” This show would air weekly and would feature Hogan as the host. The idea is he would talk about a match or a moment from WWE’s vast tape library and add his own commentary. According to a source, WWE is hoping to secure interviews with Hogan’s opponents from the past and incorporate them into the show as well.

There are other ideas being kicked around and nothing is set in stone, as is the case with a lot of potential Network projects.

There were plans for WWE Extreme Rules to be held in Seattle at one point. WWE had been planning to do a West Coast loop of events around the time of Extreme Rules but for some unknown reason it was changed to an East Coast loop, which caused Extreme Rules to be moved to New Jersey. WWE officials just decided to do a Seattle pay-per-view at a later date. (PWInsider)

We've noted from multiple sources that WWE officials do not see signing Sting as a priority. While this is true, they do want him as a part of the company as they realize that Sting is sort of the last piece to WWE's WCW puzzle. They also realize that there is lots of money to be made with Sting through t-shirts, action figures and other merchandise. The latest word is that Sting may pop up at WrestleMania XXX, but not wrestle, and then wrestle 1 or 2 matches before being used as a special attraction. With WrestleMania 31 being held in California next year and Sting being a California guy, there's potential for him to be a cornerstone for next year's Hall of Fame class. (PWInsider)

According to a person close to international wrestling star Prince Devitt, he has still not made up his mind on signing a deal with WWE. A contract has been offered and should be decided on before the month is over. (F4WOnline)

Regarding the CM Punk situation, it is not being treated as a situation where they're just letting him go. Vince McMahon does not want Punk gone because he recognizes Punk's drawing power. There are company officials, some with power, who want Punk gone but Vince does not. (F4WOnline)

Bully Ray is said to be very high on The Wolves, Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards. Ray has reportedly been protective of them when it comes to booking. (Wrestling Observer Newsletter)

- After a week where the CM Punk talk has started to die down, people within WWE are looking ahead to the March 3rd RAW from Chicago. There is a lot of concern about how that show will play out. With The Undertaker and Hulk Hogan scheduled to return at the February 24th RAW, they could be brought to the Chicago RAW as a way to counter the Punk chants.

There was less concern this past week because while there were Punk chants at live events, they didn’t pick up or last that long. The feeling is that with nothing major happening with the Los Angeles crowd at RAW on Monday, it’s pretty much a done situation with the possible exception of Chicago.

Going into the Los Angeles RAW this week, officials feared fans would hijack the show and ruin the John Cena vs. Randy Orton main event. The idea was to bring Daniel Bryan out twice, including right before the main event, have him go over strong and get the chants out of the way.

There remains mixed feelings within the company regarding Punk’s status. Virtually nobody agrees with him when it comes to walking out 30 minutes before a live TV shoot. Many have sympathy for some of his concerns but they argue that Punk was legitimately the #2 guy in the company for a while. On a related note, it’s acknowledged that Punk was very popular but the belief is that he was not a ticket seller to live events and only on occasion was he a difference maker in pay-per-view business. At the same time, Punk was the #2 merchandise seller.

En itsekään usko Punkin palaavan pitkään aikaan. Voisin kuitenkin kuvitella, että aikaisin paluu olisi Summerslamin aikoihin. Tämä toki pelkkää arvailua. Paluun ajankohtaan taitaa vaikuttaa eniten WWE:n intressit buukata Punkkia.

- Reader Curtis Miller sent word that Rey Mysterio apparently injured his knee in the Fatal 4 Way match with he, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston and Mark Henry that will air on Friday’s SmackDown.

During the match at Tuesday’s tapings in Ontario, California, Rey landed bad and quickly went out to the floor and laid down beside the steel steps. Rey pulled one of his pant legs up and removed the large knee brace that he wears, clearly in pain.

Drew McIntyre posted a picture of himself getting stitches over his left eye after last night's WWE Main Event tapings in Ontario, California. Drew received the injury in his match against Intercontinental Champion Big E Langston.

Cody Rhodes reportedly has some MCL damage in his right knee, possibly from the steel cage moonsault two weeks ago. Also, Ryback may have hurt his hand in the tag match on this past Monday's RAW

As noted, WWE launched their first podcast earlier this week with Renee Young interviewing Shawn Michaels about WrestleMania. Officials are looking at doing more podcasts with the success of Steve Austin and Chris Jericho's projects. The company is also looking at doing touring talk shows in comedy clubs after the success Mick Foley has had.

Regarding Sting not signing a deal with WWE yet, it's more because WWE is dragging their feet. We noted before that WWE officials are in no hurry to get Sting signed for a WrestleMania XXX match but word is that Sting himself was hoping for a match against The Undertaker at this year's event.

Since Sting lives in the Dallas area, he is willing to meet up with The Undertaker and work out the match in private at Undertaker's gym, over and over, to get it right, which is what Undertaker's opponents have done for the past several years. That's one of the reasons the matches have gone over so well. There was some concern that Brock Lesnar, who is in it because he makes big money for a limited amount of work and only has a certain number of dates on his contract, may not be willing to spend several extra days working with Taker to get the entire match worked out.

Both Layla and Richie Steamboat are still under contract to WWE. There were reports that Richie had been cut but he's still out with a back injury that could be career-ending. It's been speculated that Layla is out due to medical reasons or some kind of injury but The Wrestling Observer reports that she's dealing with personal issues.

Batista will start wrestling live event matches this coming weekend.

Regarding the name changes for Big E and Cesaro, that is a Vince McMahon decision.

Shane McMahon currently owns 1,541,224 shares of WWE stock, which is worth more than $35 million. After selling a lot in the past year, Stephanie McMahon currently owns 661,678 shares worth more than $14 million.

Regarding Chris Jericho's WWE future, there was some talk in late 2013 about bringing him back for the first few months of 2014 but apparently the issues that kept it from happening had to do with creative instead of financials.

WWE is seriously considering bringing in @FightSteenFight for a tryout.

Steen posted this the other day and is finally working out

Wrestling Observer reports that a recent MRI on Kurt Angle's knee found that he no longer has an ACL in that knee. It's totally gone.
